I hated Joe and I loved Kelly :) 4.5 rounded up to 5 just for Kelly !

Reading this was painful, it may be my least favourite Hill book ever.
I'll save you reading it. Here's what happens.
(view spoiler)[ Jo meets Kelly, they're instantly attracted to each other, they have a one night stand. A friend of Jo's, who also wants to sleep with her, tells her Kelly is a player. Jo believes this based on the fact that her ex cheated on her. She pushes Kelly away, Kelly protests her innocence. Jo gets upset when Kelly goes out with someone else, even though she doesn't want...more

I upped to 4 stars because of Kelly because her saintly patience and all she did had me rooting for her. It sucked how Jo treated her.
I wanted to smack some sense into Jo the whole time. She lounged in the denial stage for too long then does the big revelation in an impersonal manner (yeah, she was excited I get it) ... arr.. like Kelly said, Jo sure knew how to choose her moments. bleh.. I would have loved it if there was more stuff about Kelly and her family.. I don't know.. maybe it's just m...more

I thought I'd read pretty much every Gerri Hill book, but happened to stumble on this one. I generally enjoy her writing, so I didn't even give it a second thought before giving it a chance.
It is very apparent that this is one of Hill's earlier works. The standard of writing is nowhere near what I'm used to from her. It's awkward, and there's almost no plot, just random hurdles to romance that don't actually seem like hurdles. It surprised me to read something that felt so cliched because that's...more

I've persevered with Gerri Hill but I think I have to give up now. The detective stories aren't bad but the romances leave me cold. This is a case in point: the central character is irritating and her behaviour incomprehensible.
And I've never known a group of lesbians to drink so much and to think nothing of then driving home!

One thing I especially liked about this book is that it was populated with people who aren't twenty. In fact, the protagonist and her love interest are both well into their thirties and I really appreciated a queer romance about 'older' women. I feel like it's an age group and a generation that isn't really explored in a lot of queer novels.
Aside from that, I loved how steamy it was! Although I'm amazed the central couple had time to actually fall for one another outside of all the sex they were...more

Cheesy romance which I dig. The whole story was simple and decent, nothing overly done. I got a little problem with Jo 'tango dancing' with love committment issue. The character made me felt like i was watching a soap drama that dont intend to end. Call me pessimistic, I dont think Kelly exist in this world, her 'patience of a saint' attitude was far fetched. Even in the synopsis/blurb, potray as a player, her actions dont match. The most I would go on to label her, merely a very sociable modern...more

In my quest to read all things Gerri Hill, because she has come to be one of my top five author, I knew there would be books that I would enjoy less. One Summer Night was one of those. Not that it didn't start ok. And it's an okay book, overall, but --to me-- the last hundred pages or so were such a drag to read. And it did take me an awful long time to read them. It felt like those last pages were pointless, only there to bring more sex scenes.

I loved this book. It was the one that hooked me to Gerri Hill and I've been reading everything she has written since. I fell in love with her characters Jo and Kelly. I felt like I had been right there in their lives watching the love unfold.

Jo and Kelly...miscommunication, awkward situation, persistence, college campus, romance. My kind of story. Told from first person made it personal and allowed the reader to connect. Although you wanted to thump Jo on the head at times to make her snap out of her haze. Fun read.

really not that great, kinda boring, even for a cheesy romance. i'd like to check out other books by this author in the future, though.

One of the first novels I read by Gerri Hill and it was not the last! This is a journey of two women who meet and have a one night stand, next morning one regrets her actions and then they end up teaching in the same school. From that point onwards there is funny/serious/flirting/anger/hurt exchanges between them and you just don't want to put the book down. One of my favs from this talented author!

This was painfully good to read....I just hated the part where it feels emotions are being tested whereas you just need to open yourself to the love given and if it doesn't last fine but enjoy it...give it your best and live with no regrets

Starts off hot and heavy, finishes hot and heavy. The storyline keeps you interested with a tad bit of a roller coaster. Persistence pays off.

Okay say Gerri Hill is pretty reliable for a good read with characters you will most likely have met in your travels or have in your circle of (lesbian) friends! It covers a lot of ground really if you think past the pure romance/ sex (and there's quite a bit of that from right up front). The impact betrayal has on getting into another relationship and not becoming the bitch yourself; your reputation precedes you if you are considered a player and all of a sudden decide you are about serious; th...more

This is a harmless little romance with one dimensional characters, zero character development and a fairly predictable and transparent plot. It's something to read on a rainy day and while it'll never make it on a best book list, it also probably won't have you tossing the book down and throwing your hands in the air in disgust.

Fin.

Mejor Tela De Verano Por La Djellaba Marocaine
Gerri began writing lesbian romance as a way to amuse herself while snowed in one winter in the mountains of Colorado, and hasn’t looked back. Her first published work came in 2000 with One Summer Night. Many more romances have followed, with the occasional murder mystery in the mix.
Gerri’s love of nature and of being outdoors usually makes its way into her stories as her characters often find the...more
