Hi,
Do you get any error message while trying to configure the COM port?
I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps.
a) Plug the device that requires the COM Port to be used.
b) Open Device Manager by doing the following:
Inadyn can read the very same options which can be present in the command line from a configuration file. This feature allows the user to write the options only once, and avoids frequent retyping. Default configuration file is /etc/inadyn.conf under Unix systems. This will also make inadyn easier to port to *BSD. - configure script: --disable-ssl, --enable-openssl Default: SSL enabled using GnuTLS - Makefile.am: all execept plugins/ have working automake Makefiles - Add missing TODO, ChangeLog, AUTHORS, as per GNU conventions, with pointers to GitHub and details of project origin Default to verbose build, use --enable-silent-rules to configure, or V=0 when calling make to silence the built output. Linux Update Client: inadyn inadyn is a C based client used to update DNS entries. This client works with all of our services as well as services provided by some of our competitors. Inadyn was written by inarcis.
i)Click on “Start” and then “Control Panel.”
ii) Switch to Classic View (if in Category View).
iii) Double click on “Device Manager” button.
c) Expand “Ports”.
Install Configure Inadyn Portable
d) Right click on the Device and click on Properties.
e) Click on the 'Port Settings' tab. Click the 'Advanced' button.
f) Click on “COM Port Number.”
g) Pull down the scrollbar and select “COM1.”
h) Click “OK.”
If there is no COM port or Other Device showing in Device Manager you need to enable the serial/COM port in the laptop BIOS, assuming the laptop has a COM port.
Important: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
